He was born March 16, 1917, to Floyd E. and Ora Mae King Russell, at Southwick. When he was a small child, the family moved to Clarkston where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from Clarkston High School in 1937. Russell then joined the United States Army, serving during World War II from 1943 to 1945 in the South Pacific. After the war, he returned to the Lewiston-Clarkston area. He married Wilma Bair on Aug. 1, 1947, at Lewiston. The couple later divorced. Russell had begun working for Potlatch Corp., at Lewiston in 1942 and returned there after the war. He retired in 1977 and moved to Orofino in 1982. He was a member of the Lew-Clark Moose Lodge No. 751. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family and was an avid sportsman. Survivors include two sons, Michael James Russell of Bakersfield, Calif., and Patrick Rollen Russell of Clarkston, a sister Wanda Thomas of Clarkston; and a grandson. A sister, Rowena Kernan, died previously. A memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Merchant Funeral Home at Clarkston, with Chaplain Jim Aronen of St. Joseph Pastoral Care at Lewiston and members of the Lewis-Clark Moose Lodge officiating. The family suggests memorials be sent to St. Joseph Family Hospice, P.O. Box 816, Lewiston, Idaho 83501. In the 1920 census this family were living in Bedrock precinct, Nez Perce Co., Idaho. In the 1930 census this family were living in Clarkston, Asotin Co., Washington. Floyd E. Russell registered 5 June 1917 in Bed Rock precinct, Nez Perce Co., Idaho for the WWI Draft Registration - stating he was born 3 Aug 1891 in Pomeroy, Wash. >From Idaho Marriage Index: Floyd E. Russell md. to Ora H. King 14 March 1914 in Lewiston, Nez Perce Co., Idaho. Other records give her name as Ora Mae King. >From Soc. Sec. Death Index: Floyd Russell born 3 Aug 1891 - died July 1968, with last residence listed as Lewiston, Nez Perce Co., Idaho. I am NOT related to this family and do NOT have further info on this family.
