His parents were Seneca Russell and Tabitha Rodgers; this Russell family moved to Whiteside County, Illinois. I think that George enlisted in the Union Army on May24, 1861, as a private in Company B 13th Illinois Infantry. When he enlisted he was 21, with grey eyes and red hair. He was discharged in 1863 in Booma, Mississippi, with a disability. I can find no Internet records of him after the Civil War, but most of his siblings went west. Is George in anyone's database? I have really interest data about his paternal grandmother's line and am willing to exchange information. My knowledge of the Russell line is limited to George's father (Seneca Russell) and his grandfather (Richard Russell from Washington County, New York). George was my mother's greatuncle.
