Hello Listers: I have had no luck in finding my Russell lines so I am posting my ancestors again in hopes that someone will see a familiar name and will contact me. Jeremiah "Jerry" Russell b 1836- d between 1900-1910. (No other information available on Jerry's ancestry or siblings)He married Eliza J. Hicks 2/21/1858 in Hawkins Co., TN. Eliza J. Hicks (no other infomation found on her ancestry or siblings yet) b c 1844 and d bet 1880-1900. Jerry died between 1900-1910 for he was on the Hawkins Co., TN 1900 census but not on the 1910. He was listed as a widower in 1900. His wife Eliza was on the 1880 Hawkins Co., TN census, and since there was not a 1890 census record surviving, I cannot determine her date of death just yet. Jerry and Eliza had at least the following children: William Russell b c 1859 Hawkins Co., TN and d between 1900 and 1910. He married Mary J. Carpenter in about 1880 in Hawkins Co., TN. Nancy J. b 1861 Hawkins Co., TN, no other information John H. b 1863 Hawkins Co., TN, no other information Mary A. b 1865-1865 Hawkins Co., TN no other information Ruth A. b 1866 Hawkins Co., TN no other information Amanda Elizabeth Russell b 6/12/1868 Hawkins Co., TN d 08/19/1947 Hamblen Co., TN. No marriage record has been found for Amanda. She was living with her brother William and his new wife Mary in Hawkins Co., in 1880. Amanda had Mary E. 7/1891, probably Hawkins or Claiborne Co., TN and d 03/06/1911 in Hamblen Co., TN, Jerry (female) 7/1895 probably Hawkins or Claiborne Co., TN and said to have died around the same time her sister Mary did, but no proof, and William McKinnley b 11/1897 Hawkins or Claiborne Co., TN and d 10/20/1837 his car being hit by a train in Hamblen Co., TN. Mary E., Jerry, and William, who, with their mother Amanda, were living with Jerry Russell, Amanda's father back in Hawkins Co., TN in the 1900 Hawkins Co., TN census. It is speculated that the two girls were fathered by a Howerton and the boy, William (Willie) was fathered by a Howerton or a McKinnley. No proof has been found of any of this but I am working in conjunction with a pair of Howerton researchers who had heard the same story prior to our "meeting" on a board. Amanda went on to have two additional children, Walter Lee b 8/1901 d 7/1966, Hawkins Co., TN and George Joe b 12/1903 d 9/1973 Grainger Co., TN, both under the Parker surname but their death certificates they were Russells. It is not known at this time who their fathers could be for certain. Willie also went under the Russell surname. Amanda did have three more children, Louis and Bessie, twins in 1906 in probably Hamblen Co., TN and Jessie Kate 1909, also probably in Hamblen Co., TN. If not Hamblen, then Grainger. The father is known for these last three children, Joseph Johnson Parker from Hawkins Co., TN. He and Amanda got together and had children altho they never lived together as a couple. Joe's first wife died in 1903. The younger siblings of Amanda are: Laura b bet 1869-1870 Hawkins Co., TN, no other information Jerry b 1871-1874, Hawkins Co., TN and d 1963. Jerry married a Matilda and they had Franklin, Harve, Myrtle, Nellie, Charlie, Molly, Cora, Roy, Pearl, and Walter. I am researching a William Russell that married Elizabeth Christian from Hawkins County, TN. He was born in 1825. He could be your Jerry's brother. I am trying to prove that my William is the same William listed in the census records for Hawkins County.
