    3. April 5, 1849......One of several other "small groups" encamped on the Santa Fe roadside at Independence, Missouri was White County, Indiana, composed of William Orr, L.M. Burns, Dr. H.B. Russell and P.S. Russell. The groups were awaiting a "sufficiency of grass" to enable them to start to California. On May 9, 1849, arriving by steamer, believed to be the "Timour" at St. Joseph, Missouri, was Mr. Boggs Russell, of Louisville, Kentucky. (Others in the party were from Tenn, Kentucky, and Alabama.) The Iowa Company No. 1, of California Enigrants....passed thru Kanesville, Iowas about May 16, 1849. The train had 64 wagons and 192 "well armed" men. Among the list was: T.A. Russell and Wiliiam G. Russell. Also listed, "Williiam Bussell/sic/(Russell?)and E. Bussell/sic/(Russell?)." Col W.H. Russell led several small groups organized into one large "military regulation" April of 1849. There is no designation of "home" for this Col. W.H. Russell, his group contained persons from N.Y., Ohio, Kentucky, and various "single units." G.P. Russell, of Greenfield, N.H. is listed as being at Kanesville, Iowa, May 16, 1849, "destined to leave for California." The steamboat, "Celia No. 2" from Helena, Arkansas arrived at Fortsmith, Arkansas with passengers intending to unite with the Fort Smith company heading to California. Among those was "C. Russell." David Russell is listed as one of the individuals departed from Burlington, Iowa the early part of 1849. Then, from a newpaper from Kanesville, Iowa, May 1852, shown as being "from Wisconsin", is another (?) David Russell. >From a list of graves which had been found between St. Joseph, Missouri and Fort Laramie: Ellis Russell, d. June 14, 1849, age 53. April 1, 1850, a report of those arriving from Cynthiana, Kentucky lists W. Russell at St. Joseph, Missouri. Others from the same area were Boyd, Moore, West, and Murphy. Samuel Russell was among the first ox train to leave the "Bluffs" during the 1850 period. The Desmoine Co. No. 1, was to leave from Kanesville Iowa. The James Russell Company of Plymouth, Marshall County, Indiana arrived in Kanesville, Iowa, April 26, 1852. It departed for California May 7, 1852. James Russell is shown as being from Plymouth, Ind. while a Cyrus Russell is from Valparaiso, Ind. Col. H.P. Russell's Company departed Kanesville on June 1, 1852, with twenty indiviuals, which it did not name? S.P. Russell arrived at Placerville, CA., between Aug. 29 and Sept. 4, 1852. Then, during the second week of Sept. 1852, "D. Russell" arrived in Placerville. H.C. Russell, wife and seven children received relief provisions at Truckee Station (CA....in the mountains..ear) between Sept. and Oct. 1852. No indication of "origin." That's it, folks.
