Author: ElaineCoffman78 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.russell/1802.3022.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My James Russell was born in 1810 in TN, married Martha Wilson and they moved to Greene Co., MO about 1843. James was the son of John Gillespie and Rachel Russell. John Gillespie was born in 1779 in VA. He was the son of William Joseph Russell born in 1744 and Ann Golaspy. Russell is a pretty common surname so there are lots of them out there. Hope you find your connection. I have two walls, both Russells from the area. Josephus Russell about 1832 (Va?)-1867 (Bon Aqua, Hickman Co, TN) Jordan Russell about 1835 (Va?)-about 1875 (Williamson Co, TN) I realize that neither of these are in Giles Co, but Hickman and Williamson are both neighboring counties to Giles. I would love to share information and would be extremely grateful if you have any information on the ancestry of either of these men. Thanks, Amy Russell Tolbert Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My James and Martha Russell moved from Giles Co., TN about 1843 to Greene Co., MO and raised their family there. James was the son of John Gillespie Russell and Rachael who originally came from VA. Russell is a common name so very hard to trace. Thanks anyway, Elaine Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Kerrah_M Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.russell/1802.3022/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I don't know if this is of any help, but it sure is weird that these are the names my grandparents who were deceased before I was born. I know that my father was born in Summertown, TN around 77 years ago, and they moved to Mississippi County, MO sometime later. They had nine children that I know of: James, Ed, Claude, Joe, Billie, Mary Bell, Margaret, Betty, and Emma Lou. Could they possibly be who you might be tracing? I've heard stories that they had a sketchy past before my dad was born. Then again, it could be a big coincidence........
