    2. Mary Harkey Russell
    3. Hi, I looked at the census you mentioned. What you are running into is the old style of writing used by some back then. The name is RUSSELL but back then when they had a double S like ss they would write fs. Don't ask me why but that was it so if you run into Mississippi it would look like Mifsifsippi and Russell would look like Rufsell. Hope this helps. I know he married Phila Squire about 1798 in Southington CT. They had at least six children: Daniel, b. Nov. 15, 1799, Lydia, b. May 19, 1802, Samuel Seymour, b. July 29, 1804, Cynthia Selinda, b. June 20, 1809, Phebe Philoma, b. July 6,1811, and Sally Saphrona, b. June 25, 1813. Do any of these names sound familiar? I can go forward but not backward with this family. I would appreciate any help. Thank you. Mardell Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Russell512Ham Surnames: Russell Burns Perry Classification: bible Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.russell/294.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Just over ten years later! I am a great-grandson of George Pleasant and Mary Lucinda (Burns) Russell. Their family bible gives the following birth and marriage info: they were married on Dec 14, 1873 in Bell Co. TX. He was born Aug 9, 1851 in Hardin Co TN, (and died Dec 4, 1927 in Littlefield TX); she was born Jul 22, 1856 in Wayne Co TN (and died Mar 28, 1893 in Center City TX). One of their daughters was indeed Nettie Frances, whom I have noted as married to an otherwise unidentified Perry, and a little uncertainty about her date of death: one source gives Oct 13, 1977, while the Social Security Death Index gives Aug 1979.
