She lived in Utah with Essie and as far as I know was buried in Salt Lake City. Any connections?? Thanks Vicki

Your Nancy or Agnes Howland might be easier to follow as you first mentioned she was from Springfield, MA and now that she was married in NB. If you can establish her parentage and follow her ancestry; the possiblity exists that she has Russell ancestors through her Howlands of Massachusetts. Never say never in genealogy unless proven otherwise as the Russell/Howland connections, especially in early New England are quite a maze. Best of luck in finding parentage of your James and Nancy/Agnes (Howland) Russell.

Their children were: Anastasia (Anna, Ann) who was my great grandmother and she was married to Frederick Goodine, also known as Frederic Godin. Other children were: Mary Jane, Angelic, Martha, John, Samuel and Elizabeth and others. I think James was actually born in England. According to my late father, Anastasia always claimed that she was descended from royalty and had a letter from the British government relating to an inheritance that was never followed up on due to the death of her husband and a large family to look after with limited income made it impossible to afford to hire an investigator and a lawyer to follow it up. James and his wife were married in Restigouche County, in the Canadian Province of New Brunswick.
