The major problem at present, is that there are three George Russell's, and trying to differentiate them by birth, spouse, etc., all from Meigs And Gallia counties, OH, so that is the prime research for me at the present time.

I too read the RUSSELL article in the Southern Living 11/99 issue. So far have not been able to make a connection. My problem right now is the brick wall I have come up against. You post has given me food for thought tho. My John S. left AL. to marry his Martha Baker in Cherokee Co. GA. "WHY" Maybe Martha lived in that area and also he could have had relatives there, but when and where did he meet Martha? why did he leave AL and travel all the way to GA. to marry in the year of 1841, and I show that all 6 of their children were borned in GA. I have not been able to locate them on any census in GA thus far. In what county is this McDonough, GA. located and where is this RUSSELL PLANTATION located. the one big problem I am having right now which makes it almost impossible to connect is not knowing John S.'s parents and/or siblings. knowing that information would help me so much. I need a census with a John S. born 1815 in AL. I could throw a party over that kind of info. any information you have that could help would be greatly appreciated. hoping to hear from you soon Thank you Donna RUSSELL Davis

Came from Ireland (30 miles from Belfast) written up in Southern Living Nov 99. Came through SC and went to Texas. Some stopped. Many still in McDonough Ga (since the civil war). I think we live in a subdivision built on a Russell plantation from the 1700s. If you think this is a link, I can help you a great deal. Ed Curtis
