Some time ago I researched an extensive list of the Rice family from a web site for "Descendents of Edmund Rice, Generation Three". Russell & Martha (?) on Oct. 13, 1680 at Sudbury, Middlesex Co. MA. Died on Sept. 25, 1719 at Sudbury. Many details included in that listing regarding his property, will, activities, etc. and his & Joyce's children: (1)Joyce, b. Aug 3, 1681, m. Samuel Abbott, son of George Abbott & Sarah Farnum on June 26, 1705 at Watertown, Middlesex Co.. She died before 1750. (2)Edmund, b. July 9 1688, d. Oct. 1, 1712 at Sudbury. (3Lydia, b. You may want to try looking up that site. There is a ton of information on the Rice family and reveals other family links as well, such as Moore, Russell, Wheeler, etc. Hope that information will be helpfull to you both.

Please let me know if you require any further information. With regard to your research. I know of only one Charles Russell in my family. He was my father's brother and married Pamela Fripp. They emigrated to South Africa in 1966 where Charles died in 1997. I do not know if there were any other Charles Russell's as I have been unable to establish very much information on the Russell side. That is why I am so desperate to try and establish more information. I cannot believe that they lived in such private seclusion! Grateful if you can help and who knows, maybe we might be able to connect your Russell's eventually. Many thanks Lynne

    1. Re: [RUSSELL-L] Russells in TN
    2. Hope I'm posting this correctly!! I hit reply to all... The dead end I've hit in my Russell research is Walter Franklin Russell b. Feb. 28, 1880 md Margret Hooper b Feb 13, 1878. Walter was born in Henderson County and died in Bemis Madison County, TN. I have Alexander Russell being Walter's Father. I can find nothing on him. I have him being born Dec 6, 1853 in AR. He married Nancy Wilson born in TN. Their children were born in TN. Besides Walter I believe they had two other sons, Thomas and Hugh? On Walter's death receipt?/certificate it says father.. looks like Ellik? or maybe Ellix.. which may be a spelling error or something. Do any of these people sounds familiar?

Here's what I know so far: (Looking for information on father's paternal side.) My grandfather was Percy Reece Russell (11/20/1891 - 09/14/62, born in Centerville, TN), married Bessie Mallory. Percy's parents were James Russell (09/09/1860 - 06/26/1919) and Emma Pritchard (09/20/1867 - 05/20/1946 died in Louisville KY). Percy's siblings were Frank (In Nashville, TN per Percy's Obit), Cora Moore (In Centerville, TN), Annie McCleary (In Farmers Exchange, TN), Pearl Freeman (E Cleveland OH), Mildred Vaughn (Louisville KY), Wilma Thomas (Louisville KY) and James (Sheffield AL). Percy's father, James's parents were Ann Maria Davidson and Josephus Russell. This is all the information I have. In reading some of the other postings for Russells in TN, I keep thinking surely my family line is tied to others from TN.

I think your Ellen McDowell is possibly the sister or relative of William McDowell, wife Alice or Elsy Adams of Boone Co. He was born in TN about 1811 so that is a clue for your Ellen, Ellie, Eleanor or Ellender. Same for the Russells. Look for Andrew in TN and he is probably Andrew J. Russell not A. There is an A. J. Russell in Boone co., MO census. Tom

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oZEBAIB/3773.1 Message Board Post: Kim, there are several Andrew A. Russells listed at: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi If your Andrew had a son born in 1841, then you can estimate that he married about 1840 or sooner. You can figure roughly that he might have been at least 21 years old giving him an estimated birth date of about 1819 and the the wife a couple of years younger about 1821. Since the son is born in Boone Co., MO you can check the 1840 MO census index, esp. at Ancestry.com http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/census/ais/main.htm for Andrews in that or nearby counties. People in MO in that time period usually came from East to West, etc. Sometimes you get better results if you estimate ages and time periods and if you ask for what steps to take next. Many people are glad to offer ideas and methods. It is often just luck to find someone that has data that you need. Also look for the wife's family. She may be listed as Eleanor, Ellie or Ellender. Bride's family will usually be in county at the time of the marriage since women in those days either lived with family or husband's family.
