    1. [RUSSELL-L] William Russell - UK
    2. Douglas Russell
    3. Hi Karen.....I found a marriage record for William Russell Jun 1840 in Yorkshire in the Free BMD directory referenced below. This index does not give the spouse's names but, by association, the adjacent record for the same district & contributor is , Elizabeth Robinson. So it is likely they were the two marriage partners. The marriage took place in the sub district of Sculcoates which is in the registration district of East Yorkshire, Yorkshire. A marriage certificate can be ordered from the county Yorkshire Records Office to confirm the above. (I just recently ordered one from the Durham County Records Office for 4 pounds sterling). I note you believe the marriage was in county Durham but Yorkshire is close by. Also from the IGI data base, Charles Russell, born 30 May 1843 to William & Ann, was born in Seaton Ross, Yorkshire. This is another sub-district of East Yorkshire, very close to the Sculcoates sub-district above where William & Elizabeth Russell were married. So this seems to tie in closely to the above William Russell / Elizabeth Robinson marriage. My interest was perked because my gggrandparents Isaac Russell & Elizabeth Watson were married in county Durham in 1822 and I am stuck trying to locate their parents & siblings. It might be possible that one Isaac's siblings was your William or his father as William was the name of my great grandfather. Would be interested in hearing how you make out by direct e-mail to the address below. It would be particularily interesting if you discover your William & Ann parents and/or siblings. 1. Re: [RUSSELL-L] ROSE (ROSA?) ANN RUSSELL of Union County, KENTUCKY
    2. Hi Jane, This may or may not be helpful to you but if it is, I would appreciate knowing because this is a gem of info that I have that doesn't fit into our line but it should. First of all, I checked the 1880 Census for KY and did not come up with a Rose Aton. I did come up with a Franklin and several William's. I found 1 Ada who was b. ca 1875. You said that Rose died ca 1881 but where did she die? Where was you grandfather born and when? I am trying to establish if this family remained in KY or if they could be on some other 1880 Census. Now for my Gem: In our line a Russell married an unrelated Russell. The 1850 Census for Norfolk, Va. p. 27A lists Household #45. Delia Russell 45 This is really Adelia Hester A. Russell 17 This is really Esther Rosina (?) 5 I couldn't read this name very well. I have no idea who this Rosina (?) is since Adelia became a widow in 1835 and as far as I know never remarried and the only child that was known was the Esther b. 1833. Does any of this mean anything to you? Hope we can make a fit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

    3. It certainly would have made it easier for others to aid you, if you had taken the time to mention that Fauguier County and Louisa Country are in the state of Virginia. After I look up that information, the search was far easier. Using the LDS FamlySearch website I found two related records, but the conflict with the information you provided. Marcus RUSSELL Marriage: 8 Nov 1827, Louisa, Virginia Spouse: Sarah GREEN The above agrees with your message, but the following does not! Celia Jane RUSSELL Marriage: 9 Jan 1830, Fauguier, Virginia Spouse: Thomas M. LOMAX The names agree with your message. But according to this record Celia Jane married less than 3 YEARS after her FATHER??? It appears Celia may be Marcus's sister, not his daughter! For more research, try the LDS FamilySearch site.
