I know that he was married to Americus (?) Scarberry. They had a daughter by the name of Nellie E Russell. My Grandmother. Americus (?) divorced my gGrandfather and married a man with the last name of Rowley and had several more children. As to the children William and Americus(?) had, I don't know anything more then my Grandmother. Anything is possible. I do know that they were from the Sciota County area. Because, that was where my Grandmother was born. Her b. is Dec. 21, 1908.
Hi. I have an article that came out in the Temple Daily Telegram (Temple, Bell County, TX) about Levi James Russell. According to the article, he was a founder of Bell County, and also of Denver, CO. He was a botanist, and doctor. He was considered on of the country's foremost authorities on the healing properties of herbs and plants. "He was very well thought of in scientific circles." He was born in 1831, GA. This is a pretty lenthy article. The man sure had an interesting life. I'll try to get the whole thing typed up, and anyone interested in the long form, I'll try to send you a copy. Mary Jo

Could anyone tell me if the cowboy artist Charlie M. Russell b 1864 d. 1926 may be related to anyone in our Russell email group? A website said his family was one of great prominence in St. Louise, MO. His g grandfather was chief justice of the supreme court of MO. territory. I think Charlies grandfather was one of the early american land owners named William Russell in 1805.

We know that according to the 1850 census in Stewart County, TN, he came from North Carolina where he was a blacksmith. They had 2 sons (Christopher Marion and William A.) and a daughter, Mary Lizabeth, who died as an infant, apparently after Tilmon's death. Tilmon moved to TN approx in 1853. We can trace Hogan's way back to 1650, and would be happy to trade any information we have.
