I've been told Ida's family did own several beusiness at one time. As for Bill,,,,,,,,,he died of exposure,,,,,,,there had been a snowstorm and he was going to his barn and lost his way, Anyway,,,,,from what I've heard when they found him he was as good as gone. His death cert. said he died of "stamation & exposure". He was the youngest child in a family of 3,,,,,only son of Sylvester & Mary E. Brown Russell. I don't know alot about Bill,,,,has heard things but you never know what is fact & fiction (saying that tongue-in-cheek here)has heard that Edmund was indeed his son but he & Ida were not married at the time,,,,,,later marrying when he was quite abit older. His sister, Nancy Agnes Russell, was my great grandmother. I'm hoping to go to Ironton the end of this month,,,,,,,the Briggs library has a wealth of info there,,,,,,,,,especiall! y those phone directories. If I can be of any help let me know,,,,,,,take care! Sandy

Beginning Monday, 10 June 2002, RootsWeb will begin the complex and time-consuming process of upgrading their servers to new hardware. No messages sent are expected to be lost, but the lists will be down for awhile when it happens. If you post to the list and it doesn't go through right away, please don't post "why aren't I getting mail " during that time. Thank you for your patience. At the Briggs library in Ironton,,,,,,,you can find listings in the residential/business directories of the mid 1920's to 1930's with Vohrees Ins. agency listed. I've never really heard who Edmund's father was altho it wouldnt really surprise me if it wasnt William Russell after all. Have you checked the Briggs Library there in Ironton? I'm sure with them owning a business,,,,,there should be some news somewhere. I'm not sure where your located but my family is planning a trip to Ironton the last of this month. If you would like,,,,I could do some checking for you on the Vohrees. Ida was 63 when William died in 1948,,,,making her birth year of 1885. Edmund lived at 1011 Center St. in Ironton when William passed away. William is buried at Hecla Oh,,,,,,I'm not sure where Ida is buried. There is a poorly marked grave next to his,,,,,,all we could make ou! t was the Russell part,,,,,,so I don't know if that would be Ida or not. Its not much but I hope that does help some. If you would like me to do any research in Ironton for you,,,,please let me know by the 27th of this month. Good luck to you! Sandy

I am looking for information on Clement Russell b. ca 1783 in Waterboro Township, York Co., ME I am just beginning the research on this portion of my husband's family. Here is what I have from family information. Clement married Nancy Warren, d/o Aaron Warren, 12 June 1803 in Waterboro, York Co., ME. Their children were Moody, William, Warren, Jospeh, Aaron, Benjamin, Keziah, and possibly Clement Phineas. Moody was the father of the famous NY architect, Archimedes Russell. Warrren is my husband's ggrandfather. Clement's father was Jospeh Russell, b. possibly in Exeter, NH. He was a lumberman who moved to York Co., and may have been was a Revolutionary War veteran. He wife's last name was Moody. Joseph's father was a Jonathan Russell, according to family stories. My scant research while on vacation in the 1980's at the courthouse in Alfred was lost. I would be delighted to hear from anyone who has some information on Clement and his father, Jospeh. Cheers, Cheryl Duke
