I have a William P. Russell who in 1850 was 22 and lived in Norfolk, Va. That means he must have been born ca 1827/28. The 1880 Census states that he was b. in VA. He died in 1895 in Norfolk, Va. and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, Va. In 1890 he is listed as being a boat builder and living at 76 Queen St. (Where ever that is?) He worked at Front Street near 1st in Atlantic City, Norfolk, Va. At some point he lived on Herman Ave., Norfolk, Va. I cannot find a death certificate for him or anything giving his parents names. I know that the name Robert was important to him since he named 2 of his children Robert. QUESTIONS: 1. Does anyone live near Elmwood Cemetery and could you check for information for me on William P. Russell. I think his middle name is Parker but that is an assumption based on another of his children's names. 2. Would the Va.-Pilot newspaper have an obit for him. Nathaniel Cobb 20 Mar 1818 in E. Feliciana Parish, LA. Nathaniel was related in some way to a Jacob M. Cobb who m. Mary Ann Russell in 1815 in Jones Co, GA. There was a Jacob Cobb who died in 1818 in St. Helena Parish, LA who had a brother named Nathaniel and one named Daniel. DAniel before Jacob in E. Feliciana Parish, LA. In 1820 there is a Nathaniel Cobb and a Jacob Cobb in St. Helena Parish, LA. I believe that these Cobbs came out of Craven Co, SC into GA and that possibly the Russell family followed the same pattern. Now I'd like to know if Jane and Mary Ann were related. Any ideas?

Greyhound and goat races, the Morris acrobatic troupe, the Darwood Circus Troupe, the FAMOUS RUSSELLS, the Elyria high school band and several novelty acts will be the attractions. A bathing beauty contest will be a feature of the evening. W. H. Russell, age 60 and weiging 190 pounds, who is known as the "world's oldest strongman" has been added to the afternoon program on Thursday and Friday. His routine, includes the placing a huge stone on his stomach while he rests his head on one chair and his feet on another---then another man breaks the stone with a sledgehammer. Jen I have found it very hard to find anything out on the RUSSELL clan also, and with so many with the same first name it is all the more difficult. I have found another branch of Russell's in the family that I have not even looked into yet.
