The 1901 census shows her born in Bexleyheath in 1872. There is no OBVIOUS record in the 1881 census, but the most likely appears to be Rosa Russell born Dartford 1870. Her parents are listed in the 1881 census as being born in Ash, Worcester. No such place! What could this have been SUPPOSED to say? Their son, Capt. William Beatty is listed in the Beatty Project 2000, lineage 180. Perhaps these other lineages you refer to, do connect to this Capt. William but the connection was unclear to me. Or perhaps there is more than one Capt. William Beatty. They are from the same area, so perhaps they are descendents. If you would like my info to try to connect them, I would be glad to help.

    1. [RUSSELL-L] Russell in NC mid 1700's
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oZEBAIB/4136 Message Board Post: My ggggg-grandfather was James Russell married to Jane Carson. He first shows up in Rowan Co., NC in 1762 on an early census that lists him as the son of John. Until I found that I'd thought his father was Robert. Anyway, there are several Russell's in the same area and I've had no luck yet putting any of them together, but I feel certain they have to be connected. Does anyone know anything about any of the following: John Russell - Rowan Co., early census 1755 through 1762 (he probably lived in what became Mecklenburg in 1763 or he died before the next Rowan census of 1768, because he's not there.) A John Russell also shows up on a 1751 Dan River Tax List about the same time a John Russell disappears from Lunenburg Co., VA. James Russell - Rowan Co., early census 1762 (listed as son of John) can't prove this is my James, though mine had his first child in 1758 so he would have been the head of a household in 1762. Robert Russell - Rowan Co., early census 1755 through 1768 ( In 1790 there are several in different counties) thought to be James' father until I found the above mentioned census listing, but James' first son is named Robert which follows the usual naming pattern of the first son being named after the paternal grandfather. Charles Russell - Rowan Co., early census 1762, then in Surry Co., NC about 1771. George Russell- Rowan Co., early census 1762 & 1768, then in Randolph Co., NC in 1790 (assuming this is the same George) William Russell - Rowan Co., early census 1762 & 1768 (James supposedly had a brother named William who married Jeanette Roberson and they moved to Abbeville Co., SC, but no one knows when. A Robert also shows up in Abbeville, but William's and Robert's pop up everywhere by 1790 and 1800.) David Russell - the only evidence of his existence is as bondsman for the marriage of Margaret Russell to John Rogers in 1789. He had to be either her father or her brother. I've found the will of a David Russell who died in Mecklenburg Co., NC in 1797 who has the following children: Matthew, David, Isbel, Margaret, Jinsey, Martha, Mary and Elizabeth; wife Jane. Did the above named Matthew marry Jane McIntire or was this a different Matthew? What happened to David? Isabella married Robert Mitchell, Margaret married John Rogers, Mary married George Campbell. What happened to Jinsey, Martha and Elizabeth? William Russell - married Elizabeth Hale in Rowan in 1782. Thomas Russell - married Sarah Irwin in Mecklenburg in 1792, Philip Weeks bondsman. James Russell - married to Susannah ? , died around 1790 or 1791. Sons were Levy and Joseph. Samuel Russell - bondsman for John Russell & Elizabeth Frazer in 1800, Randolph Co. & Sarah Russell and George Frazer in 1800, Randolph Co. Sinthe Russell - married Samuel McCracken in Cabarrus Co. in 1800, George Campbell bondsman. (Could this be Jinsey named above?) Peggy Russell - married James Noland in Rowan Co. in 1801, James Noland bondsman. Lydia Russell - married Stephen Noland in Rowan in 1803, Jesse Buckner bondsman. Betsey Russell - married John McCoard in Mecklenburg in 1803, Joseph Canon bondsman. I've found a couple of books that should prove helpful, but the cost prevents me from buying them all at the same time. Does anyone have access to "MECKLENBURG COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA DEED ABSTRACTS, 1763 - 1779, Books 1 - 9" or "GENEALOGICAL DEED ABSTRACTS, MECKLENBURG COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, BOOKS 10-14, Revised" and who would be willing to do look-ups for any of these Russell's? I've tried requesting help finding wills on some of these individuals from "RAOGK" - Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness", but so far I haven't had any luck. Any help greatly appreciated!!! Surnames: Russell, Russel Classification: Lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/oZEBAIB/4133 Message Board Post: I have been trying to find information on my grandmothers family. So far all I've found is brick walls. I am hoping that someone could do a census lookup for the family. My grandmother was suppose to be born in Scioto County on Dec. 21, 1908 and they have no information on her. There is a chance that she may have been born somewhere along the Ohio/KY state line. I am looking for information on William Russell and his wife. Her last name was Scarberry. I believe she went by Ellen. That's all that my grandmother knew her by. They had a son Robert who was born about 1895. Around either 1916 or 1921, he was killed in an accident in Appleton, WI. There was also a son Alfred born after my grandmother. He died as a young boy in Alger County, MI. They moved around a lot. They were between OH, WI and MI. I have been told that they lived in a lot of lumber camps. If you can help in anyway at all I would really appreciate it. I'm sorry that I don't really have any information so to speak. I know I am looking for a miracle. I just hope that there happens to be a miracle maker out there somewhere.
