Surnames: Russell / Bain / McManis Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oZEBAIB/3959.3 Message Board Post: My great great grandfather, William Russell of NJ, may have died in Iowa. An incomplete listing of a death in Oct, in US 1850 Iowa Census Mortality Schedule shows a place of birth as NJ and death in Van Buren Co. This reference is also given in the NJ Genealogy Magazine. He may have been in VanBuren County with daughters of a 2nd marriage (Sarah Bain and Charlotte McManis). He was born in 1794(?) in NJ, came with his wife and sons to IN; possibly moved to Minnesota where sons Edward and John lived, then moved on to Iowa. I need reference to his 2nd marriage to Charlotte and his death. Is he the William Russell who married Naomi Osborn of Henry Co., in 1842? I am willing to share my data.

    3. Hope this might help a bit. Using the LDS FamilySearch website I found - Martha RUSSELL Marriage: 8 Dec 1874 - Jackson, Iowa Spouse: Thomas WARD Could not find any information about their parents or children. Please keep in mind that the LDS database is frequently erroneous, but always better than a blank sheet of paper. You might try getting a marriage record from Jackson, Iowa. Might provide more information. Surnames: Russell,Barr,McDonnell,McDowell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/oZEBAIB/4166 Message Board Post: Hi I’m looking for information on my Russell family. John and Mary Russell (nee McDonnell or McDowell) migrated to Tasmania, Australia from County Cork in Ireland on 20th February 1853. Their children travelled with them. They were: Edward aged 13, Bridget aged 11. Ellen aged 8 and Jeremiah aged 4. On the same ship listed under single women was a Mary Ann Russell aged 16 from County Cork.. I assume this was also their daughter? We’re not sure if John and Mary had any other children when they came to Australia but there was a Michael Russell that was recorded as a godparent or sponsor for Ellen’s first child, Mary Ann Cecelia Barr. I would love to find out where in County Cork they were from and whether they left family behind when they came to Australia. Does anyone have any information on my Russell ancestors? Thanks Toni Cliff
