Well......here I host the Noxubee county Ms. site for MsGenWeb...and I miss the obvious! 10 Jan 1836, Gibson Russell marries Zenolia Crawford, Book A, page 23, Noxubee county, Ms. I will be looking thru these records I have here at home and picking out "more" Russell info to share with all of you. Maybe I need to research "my own" county a bit more, I might find the proof needed?? Just for the record...I think I found a Caleb Russell over in Wise County, Texas in the 1880 census, too. (I have the CDs...and if you have a need, let me know.) My tie is thru Martha Russell, b. abt 1798, who married Charles Watson. Thru some of you, I now believe my first "hunch" that those Russell over in Perry County, Ms in the 1830 census were in fact "family", most likely her brothers. Would some nice soul help me fill in some blanks on Martha's family? One of you has already sent me some info that I am studing. Has anyone noticed that the Caleb Russell (Sr.?) is nineteen years younger than his "brother" John Russell? There must be other children in that family somewhere, or, John IS his father?? Does anyone have any info on a Thomas (Tommy) Russell? He was born in Casey Co. KY. to Ambrose and Louisa Baxter Russell late 1850's or early 1860's. I believe he married in Casey or surrounding Counties but can not find proof, or to whom he was married. Sometime in early 1900's he left a large amount of furniture with my Grandmother, (Permelia Reed Russell) She was married to William (Billy) Russell, brother to Thomas. I was very young but remember her telling me about the furniture and believe she said Tommy went to Illinois. Any information would be appreciated. I have tried to send the following to several who appear on the archived lists...please, please, please, be related to some of these: I hope this finds you, as I am doing a search of the archives and came upon your post. I hope your Mississippi Russells are the ones I am looking for, because I am just now "excited" about that surname. It is a Martha Russell, married to a Charles Watson who I am beginning to "get excited" about. A dau. of that couple married William Beasley Hudson, location as of yet unknown for the marriage, but....they lived in Noxubee county, Ms! That's right next door to Winston county! The reason I got excited was that I located some Russell families over in Perry county, Ala. on the 1830 census. They do not appear there in the 1840 census. The men's names were "Caleb, Gibson, John, Jonathon, and William Russell." Nearby was "Charles Watson." I don't have any proof that this would be MY Charles Watson with wife, Martha Russell, however, in that the sons of this couple were named "Caleb, Gibson, John, and Joe"...it makes for a reasonable connection? I host the Noxubee county, Ms site for the MsGenWeb and have a lot of resources available, but need a direction, and your post really caught my attention! The other children on John Russell and Jane Gatherer are: Alexander (1808), Jean (1809), Ann (1811), Margaret (1813) and John (1815) - all born in Inveravon, Banff - which I believe is the parish adjacent to Cromdale, Moray. William married Elspet Cameron 26 August 1841 in Inveravon Parish Church. He was a farmer on farms owned(?) by Ballindalloch - I assume the McPherson-Grants. His various children were born on various farms associated with that estate.
