By 1722 he was resident of King and Queen County. In 1717 he gave a deposition describing the Rappahanok River Settlements. He was employed frequently by Governor Spotswood, who developed iron mine in Spotsylvania County. William was also a founding member of the South West Virginia Trading Company. When Daniel Boone lost his younger brother he stayed at the Russell Lodge for a year in mourning. Son George married Elizabeth Bean and they were the parents of Major William Russell of Russellvill, Franklin County, AL fame; Lydia married William Bean (Elizabeth's brother); John married Henrietta "Dolly Burleson; Jemima married Valentine Sevier; William married Tabitha Adams.

Supposed male descendents of hiram from elizabeth thomasson does not match the male descendent from millie graham. Russell dna numbers R13 and R34 do indicate that hiram a and lewis j. are closely related and probably brothers---father unknown. Russell R45 is from a known direct male descendent of hiram and millie graham. this dna does not match R13 or R34, therefore R45 cannot be related to R13 or R34.

William is not present in this family. >From the cemetery database on the Rensselaer Co site of the nygenweb, Mary Ann Herrington is listed as the daughter of Joseph Herrington and Zeriah Hix b abt 1780 d 1867. In 1860 Zeriah Herrington is living with family of Norman Herrington in Hoosick, Rensselaer Co NY. I am interested in the Hix,Hicks connection, but hope this helps some of you Russell researchers.
