I am hoping to connect with descendants of Winifred Russell, dtr. of Agnes Ross and Patrick Meahan. Winifred was born in Michigan before Aug 1869 about the time that her father was killed in a lumber accident. Her widowed mother married the widower Peter Russell of Detroit, MI in 1869. and she was raised as a Russell in this family with two younger half-brothers James M and George A. Russell. Her 1886 Wayne High School Graduation photo lists her as Winnie Russell. The 1880 Census of Nankin Twp, Wayne Co., MI shows her with this family and 12 yrs. old, b: MI. We think she married John O. Hanratty about 1892 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wayne, MI. But this is not confirmed yet. She would have been 23 or 24 yrs. old. Her step-father Peter died in May of 1890 in Nankin Twp. Neither of her younger brothers were married at this time. So it is probable that Winnie was still living with her again widowed mother Agnes and two younger brothers in Nankin Twp. when she married John O. Hanratty. In 1900 Census she and her husband and four children are in Missoura Co., French Town, Montana. Children are: James E. b: May 1893, age 7; John F, b: Nov 1894, age 5; Mary W. b: May 1897, age 3; Joseph H, b: Apr 1899, age 1. Winnie says she has been married 8 yrs and has 4 of 4 children living. 1910 Census, Siskiyou Co, Edgewood, California. The Hanratty family is all here. The men are all working in the lumber industry. Winnie is 42, married 18 yrs, b:MI. 1920 Census Kootenai Co, 2-ward, Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. Winifred is is 52, married, b: MI and with husband John, age 55, and son Joseph, age 20, single. 1930 Census, Kootenai Co, 2-ward, Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. Winifred is 62, age at first marriage 23, b: MI. She is with husband John age 65, son John, single, age 35 and son Joseph, single, age 31. Men are working in the woods industry. We have a telegram from son Joe in Coeur d' Alene saying that "mother died suddenly today". This was dated Jun 19, 1939. It was sent to the family of her half-brother James M. Russell, of Canton Twp, Wayne Co., MI. It's probable that Winnie is buried in Coeur d' Alene but I have not been able to verify this or find any of her descendants in the area. I would appreciate any response to this query and be grateful for any advise about where to go or what to do next. I am a descendant of Winnie's mother Agnes through George A. Russell, a barber in Wayne, MI.

Was there a Jane Russell who married George W. Mays, 1875 Johnson Co, AR in your research? She was the mother of Isabelle Elizabeth Mays Misner Tiffee and I have been trying to locate her family. I am trying to figure out how a Peter Waggoner (d. 1851 Adams Co. PA) or Peter's wife is related to my Katie Gooden (b. 1777) who married John Smith (b. between 1760-1770; d. 1849 Loyalhanna, Westmoreland Co., PA). I'm also interested in how Dr. J. N. Smith might be related to my John Smith and whether or not Peter Waggoner was related to Samuel Fleck and/or James Russell. John Smith and Catherine (aka Katy) Gooden were from Germany, according to my great-grandfather Michael Harvey Smith's 1929 family information sheet. In the sheet, Michael Harvey Smith says that his grandparents were married only once. In John Smith's 1849 will, he bequeathed to his wife Catherine "... all the Money in the Hands of Peter Waggoner of Adams County coming from her Fathers Estate." Of course he bequeathed to her more things, but this one puzzled me, as I do not know how or if these Gooden and Waggoner lines are related. This Peter Waggoner, David Fleck and Samuel Waggoner were executors of Samuel Fleck's estate in 1843. James Russell was one of the executors of Peter Waggoner's estate. Who the others were, I do not know. One of the inventories for Peter Waggoner, deceased, in 1855 asks the court for "...payments and disbursements on account of Estate." Among the many items listed are these for Smiths: 14 cash paid Mrs. Smith Interest 15.60 15 cash paid Mrs. Smith Interest 7.80 29 cash paid Dr. J. N. Smith Acc't 7.50 35 cash paid Magdalena Smith 137.80 It would appear, but I do not know, that Mrs. Smith and Magdalena Smith may be Katy, as Peter had been holding her money from her father's estate. Nothing says who her father was. I am hoping that a will might. I do not know if Dr. J. N. Smith is related to Katy or John Smith (b. btw. 1760-1770; d. 1849 Loyalhanna, Westmoreland County, PA), but it would be nice to know. If anyone wants to know some of the other names on the inventory, please let me know. It is hard to read, as the copy is poor, but I'll try. Again, my question is does anyone on the list know how this Peter Waggoner was related to Catherine, if he was. Lee Anne

She was married to Arthur Russell. Don't know how I missed your post for this long. I was so hoping someone would reply. Klebbe is an odd name, so I thought the chances were good. Nice to hear from you...a long lost cousin.
