I just found it. My Grand Father was French S Russell. My great grand father was Wm Newton Russell. One of the family members in TN researching the family came up with Thomas Russell and Lucinda Rogers as the father and mother of Wm N Russell. That member of the family, Lynn Russell, has passed on. I have had no luck in verifying her conclusions. I have found several Trees for a Thomas Russell but none with Lucinda. I would like to go farther. I would like to talk further with you.

They are buried at Slamannan Churchyard in Scotland. I don't know about any Isobel's. The earliest I have found so far is Thomas Russell b about 1744, and this family remained in the area until at least 1957. There is a Greenhill, an Easter greenhill and I think a Wester Greenhill farm all nearby Slamannan. Do you think there is any link?

My GG Gpa was Henry V. Russell, born 1822 in Naples, Steuben, NY in August 1822. married Mary Ann Kinfield, born 1820, on Dec. 20, 1820. It appears that he may have moved around some. Has children as follows: Maria, Loretta Maud, James H., Martin L., W. L., Mary Franciela, and Ruth Ann. Mary Franciela was my paternal great grandmother. born 29 Aug 1851 in Hornellsville. Loretta was born in Cohocton. and Plattsburg comes in there somewhere but I am not sure just where. I have been searching in vain for his ancestors. They migrated to Michigan some time after 1853 when Ruth Ann was born, and by 1860 where they show up in census in Michigan, St. Joseph County. Then later to South Bend, St. Joseph, IN where is recorded as having died in 1903 and 1905 depending on whose records you are using. Any help you may be able to give me will be greatly apreciated. However, as a descendant of John and Hannah Russell of St. Clair Co, MI, I have to disagree with the ancestry.com record. I do not believe that John Russell/Ane Vidgen from Canterbury/Kent, and my John Russell/Hannah from St. Clair, MI, are the same couple. The John Russell in St. Clair Co, MI, is known to have emigrated from England to Michigan in 1830. He is known to have had at least four children: Reuben b 1822, Simon, b. 1824/25, Caroline, b 1829, and an unknown daughter b. aft 1830, who prob died before age 20. The 1840 Census record, MI-St. Clair,St.Clair shows him with a wife and four children, ages correct for the four children cited above. Some online records show the other couple (John Russell/Ane Vidgen) having children born in England throughout the 1830's. One FamilyTrees record shows the family moving to Ontario, Canada, not MI. In any case the two John Russells are not a match.
