Surnames: Russell and Newbury Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.russell/5691.1.1.1.1.2.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Jodi, I have been researching a John Jackson Russell born in 1787 supposedly in Virginia who was married to a Rhoda Newbury in 1805 in NC and then moved to Bledsoe/Warren/Van Buren/Sequatchie counties in Tenn. I have not found their parents or siblings. Supposedly there were two brothers, David and John who originally came over from Ireland, and the only names that I have found in immigration records were a John and David who came from Ireland in 1747 on different ships and landed in Maryland at different ports. When I saw your information on the David Russell from Pa. with a son named John born in 1787, I thought this could solve my mystery. Do you have any more information about this family, like the descendants of the sons David and John? Thank you, Rheba

    1. [RUSSELL] Russels of Kanawha County WV also Gallia County Ohio
    2. Hello, I notice a lot of new action on the Russell list. I was wondering if anyone is researching Russells in Kanawha County WV? I would also like to know if any of the people who research in Gallia County Ohio have ever made a connection with the Russells of Kanawha County Ohio? My great great grandfather Samuel Russell was born about 1820 and his mother was Elizabeth (unknown) Russell and he stated on the 1880 Census that his father was born in Ct. I have noticed over the years that some of the Gallia County early Russells immigrated from Ct to Ohio. I just wondered if anyone had a clue or a guess? I have been told that my Samuel Russells father was Spencer Russell. I cannot find any proof of such. Thanks so much Pat in Florida

Then at a certain point when you are sure you have connected with a cousin, you can take the email private between the two of you. You are welcome to continue with this string if you want on the board. Just be aware of how many people are reading your email . Mary --

My Mom was born, and lived there, Millfield, and Chancey all of her childhood. I know Flora died 12 Aug 1942 in Millfield. Isaac was alive in May of 1945. The reason I know this , I have a obit from the Zanesville newspaper of my grandfather, chester Russell, and it lists chesters grandfather as Issac living in Millfield. But I can find no trace of him after that! Thanks to you, I now know who Isaacs parents are.I'm going back home to Ohio this summer and I will find the caretakerof the cemetary and find out where Issac and Floras graves are! Do you think they can give me a buriel date? I have a baby picture of James Desra hes around 1 year old. It was taken by a proffesional photographer. Would you be interested in a copy? Your cuz, Melody

I don't know if he is related or what. He lived with my great grandfather and great grand mother (George W. and Easter (Ester) Pridgen King) in the 1919-1925-6-7? era) George and Ester were my paternal grandmother's parents. According to cencus they were born in SC. My G-moter, Dollie Aliza or Eliza married John Franklin Mintz and George & Esther lived on the Mintz farm until Esther died in 1927. George then returned to SC where he married Julia Rabon and had a second daughter, Georgia Lee King. Both George and Julia died leaving Georgia an orphan. Family members say she was raised by Frank (son of Edward)and Addie King, a nephew of George. Georgia Lee married Homer Hodge/Hodges and I know that she had one son. I have been told that his name was/is Franklin. Sure would appreciate any info. Incendintally, George had a g-father who was Idian. According to the story he was watching his g-father chop wood. G-father would chop, grunt and his braid would bounce on his back. Young Geo. thought this very funny so he proceeded to re-enact the scene which secured him a very severe spanking
