John Rush was born about 1785 in Tennessee. After the War of 1812, he lived in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. John Rush and wife, Eliza Rush, deeded property to William Davis on 14 Oct 1828 in Tuscaloosa and moved to Walker Co., AL. The 1830 census for Walker Co., AL lists John Rush age approximately 45. There were 2 males and 3 females under the age of 20 listed. John Rush died in 1836 in Walker County, Alabama. The names of three of the sons are known: John Rush, Jr., Andrew and Griffin. John Rush, Jr. was 10 years old when his father died of injuries received in the War of 1812. He was bound out in support of his widowed mother until he came of age. He went to Illinois and married Rhoda Davis. They moved to Lamar Co., Texas.
