She received her formal education in Wray schools and married her high > school sweetheart, Howard Twiss, on July 31, 1940. They lived in Wray > briefly, then moved to Denver where Twiss was employed by the phone company. > > In 1943 they bought and moved to a farm south of Platner. Although Mrs. > Twiss was raised a town girl, she learned to do all sorts of farm chores as > a working partner with her husband on the farm. > > Her greatest joy was her family. She loved children, especially babies and > enjoyed family get-togethers, her church, Bible studies, crocheting and > ceramics. She was also an avid reader. She especially liked to read and > study history, and she researched and compiled an extensive family genealogy > of both the Funk and Twiss families. > > She was a member of the Akron Methodist Church, the Akron Rebekah Lodge No. > 86 and the Town and Country Pinochle Club. > > Preceding her in death were her parents, Claude and Faye Funk; her sister, > Frances McKie, and her brother, Claude Funk. > > She is survived by four daughters, Janice of Akron, Connie of Otis, Linda of > Atwood and Rhonda of Lone Star; her son, Tom of Otis; 11 grandchildren; 11 > great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren. > > Memorial donations in Mrs. Twiss' memory may be made to the Akron United > Methodist Church.
