She was born July 6, > 1901, in Neighburg, Russia, to Leonhard and Magdelena (Schachterle) Fetzer. > In 1910, she came to Colorado with her parents. They homesteaded in the > Rockland community, south of Daily, and she attended Rockland Schools. On > Jan. 18, 1922, she married Jesse Schmidt in Fleming. He died in 1979. Mrs. > Schmidt farmed with her husband from 1922-70 south of Fleming. In 1971, they > moved to Sterling. She moved to the Greeley Manor in 1981. She had a good > sense of humor and was always willing to help others. A member of the First > United Methodist Church, she was Woman of the Year in both Sterling and > Greeley for United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school for years. She > was a longtime member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and won > several RSVP awards. She also was a lifetime member of the Women's Christian > Temperance Union. Survivors are a daughter, Delilah "Dee" Jacoby of Greeley; > two sisters, Lydia Allen of Pollock Pines, Calif., and Frieda Jackson of > Joplin, Mo.; a granddaughter, Dawn Jacoby of Golden; and a great-grandchild, > Lee Wilson, also of Golden. A brother, John L. Fetzer, is deceased. Services > will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Greeley. > Interment will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Friends > may visit from 3-7 p.m. today at Stoddard Funeral Home.
