Loveland newspaper Loveland, Colorado 06-18-02 Samuel R. "Sam" Schmidt, 74, of Fort Collins, formerly of Loveland, died June 16, 2002, at his home. He was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Loveland, to Fred and Pauline Lehl Schmidt. He attended Timnath School. He married Donna Pitner on March 15, 1974, in Fort Collins. Mr. Schmidt worked for the Housing Department at Colorado State University for 37 years, retiring in March 1997. He later worked at Foothills Assembly of God and Sutherlands on Prospect Road in Fort Collins. He lived in Fort Collins all of his life. He was a charter member of Glad Tidings, which is now Foothills Assembly of God. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and spent hours in prayer and reading the Word. Mr. Schmidt is survived by his wife, Donna Schmidt of Fort Collins; three sons, Kevin Schmidt of Fort Collins, Jim Schmidt and wife Jan of Marshfield, Mo., and Sam Schmidt and wife Sue of Wellington; two daughters, Cinda Conklen and Karen Cooper, both of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Dan Schmidt and Reuben Schmidt, both of Fort Collins; two sisters, Ellda Scriven of Loveland, and Naomi Schmidt of Fort Collins; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Schmidt, and two infant sons. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 tonight at Reager Funeral Home, 1530 Riverside Ave. in Fort Collins. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Foothills Assembly of God. The Rev. Stephen Curry and the Rev. Bill Beard will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins.
