He joins his parents and his brothers and sisters, Catherine, Lydia, Ester, Leslie, Harold, Milton in death, only Ester Marie Schmidt remains she is 93 years of age. Aunt Ester is following in the foot steps of Great Grandma Schmidt who lived 103 years. Ishie Schmidt served with the Army Combat Engineers during World War Two. Afterward he served as an German language interpreter during the Nuremburg trials, A duty he never would talk about, only saying it was the only time he was sorry to know the German language. He worked for InterCity Lumber Company in Gering Nebraska. Some of you who lived in the area may remember his radio show. It started with Ishie singing "It is seven fifteen in the morning won't you listen to my radio show.." which was sponsored by The InterCity Lumber Company. My Grand Mother Kennedy (ne Catherine Schmidt) had a radio tuned to the station Ish did his show on I remember waking up to his show for years, it was a death sentence to touch the tuning of that radio. Ish died peacfully after suffering a stroke at the Scottbluff Veteran's home. Kenneth A.
