RE: Prunus spinosa Well that was easy. It's was indeed a Sloe plum. All the info fits Grandma would not pick the fruit until after the frost. She was very fond of this little fruit tree it was her connection with home in the Ukraine. I also see there are numerous sources for the plant it's self. Thanks Gene Kenneth A.
