-------- Original Message -------- Subject: [GV] 100,000 GRs indexed with the San Joaquin County, CA! From: Patrice Miller <patrice@attbi.com> Date: Mon, May 13, 2002 5:50 pm To: GER-VOLGA-L@rootsweb.com Congratulations to Gene Jenkins for indexing over 100,000 GRs in the 1920 census, with a little help from Janet Laubhan Flickinger, Janet Margolis Damm, and Donald E. Walter. Our exact count is at 101,548 with the addition of San Joaquin county, CA! San Joaquin county has been added to the census indexes at: http://www.webbitt.com/volga/census.htm San Joaquin County, CA 1920, Germans from Russia ~includes the towns of Manteca, Lodi, Tracy, Victor and Stockton This enumeration contains 2,229 individuals in approximately 500 households and contains the towns of Manteca, Lodi, Tracy, Victor and Stockton. Many of these GRs were non-Volga Germans, mostly Black Sea Germans. Many relocated from North & South Dakota. Approximately 300,000 GRs were counted in the 1920 US census. Gene has indexed 1/3 of them and probably 2/3's of the 120,000 Volga Germans. http://www.webbitt.com/volga/settle-pop.htm Patrice Miller
