Yakima Herald Republic Yakima, Washington May 9, 2002 YAKIMA - Harold D. Winter, 89, of Yakima, passed away Sunday May 5, 2002 at the Crescent Convalescent Center. He was born August 16, 1912 in Ft. Collins, CO to David and Mollie (Schaeffer) Winter. Harold grew up on the farm and earned his education in the Box Elder and Timnath Schools. After farming in the Fort Collins area, he met Marie Kauffman. They married in the Congregational Church at Fort Collins, May 23, 1937, where Harold was active in a men's quartet. After farming in the Windsor, Fort Collins and Berthoud, Colorado areas, they moved to the Yakima Valley in December 1944; with their young son Wayne. They began farming South of Harron on LaRue Road in 1945. Along with the farm, Harold and Marie operated a dairy operation until 1956. They continued in farming at the same location until 1990. At that time they sold the operation and retired to Yakima. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marie Winter of Yakima; his sons and their spouses: Wayne & charlotte Winter of Huntington, IN. and Dave & Carol Winter of Brookfield, WI.; five grandchildren and a sister Rachel Winter. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mollie Winter, brothers Raymond Winter and Rhienhold Winter and young sister. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 9, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Burial will follow at West Hills Memorial Park.
