Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 05-25-02 Fred Klein Fred Klein, 84, of Greeley died Friday, May 24, at Bonell Good Samaritan Center after a three-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born on Aug. 16, 1917, in Chicago to Fred and Anna (Cook) Klein. In 1945, he married Jean E. Bard. They were married 29 years. Mr. Klein attended the University of Chicago and graduated in 1938 with a business degree. He did graduate work at the University of Illinois. He worked most of his life as an advertising account executive in the Chicago area. He also consulted for Superior Graphite and the U.S. Forest Service. After he retired, he traveled and did wildlife volunteer work for the forest service and various national parks. His special interest was the preservation of the peregrine falcon and the black-footed ferret. He expressed his passion for wildlife in an unpublished book titled, "When Did They GO? Are They Coming Back?" Survivors are two daughters, Jenny Weber and her husband, Rick, of Greeley and Penny Smith of Crossville, Tenn.; a son, Jeff Klein of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; a granddaughter, Katie Weber of Greeley; and a grandson, Brian Bauman of Ohio. His parents and a brother are deceased. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Stoddard Funeral Home.
