Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 02-13-02 Jacob Hirsch Jr. Jacob “Jake” Hirsch Jr., 81, of Loveland died Sunday, Feb. 10, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. He was born March 27, 1920, in Loveland to Jacob and Anna Margaret (Klein) Hirsch. On Feb. 8, 1940, he married Helen E. Weitzel in Greeley. She died Jan. 7, 1977. On July 22, 1978, he married Opal Scammehorn-Drake in Greeley. Mr. Hirsch attended Loveland schools. He farmed and raised livestock. He was confirmed in the First Congregational Church in Loveland in 1935. He played the violin and sang in the church choir. He enjoyed dancing to polka music and spending time with his family. Mr. Hirsch also enjoyed corresponding with relatives in Germany for many years before traveling to Düsseldorf in 1993. Survivors are his wife, Opal Hirsch of Loveland; two daughters, Wanda Quaid of Fort Collins and Brenda Schleiger of Loveland; a son, Jake Hirsch III of Eaton; two stepdaughters, Judy Dulany of Longmont and Debbie Pinkerton of Westminster; a stepson, Jim Drake of Greeley; three sisters, Erna Daubert of Wellington, Emma Hein of Loveland and Dorothy Dittus of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat grandchildren. A granddaughter, Jennifer Jo Milon, died Aug. 5, 1986; and a sister, Olinda Hirsch, and two brothers, Joseph and Daniel Hirsch, are deceased. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Congregational Church, 8th Street and Lincoln Avenue, Loveland. Interment will be in Loveland Burial Park. Friends may visit from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m.-noon at Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home and after services Thursday at the church. Contributions may be made to the Jacob Hirsch Jr. Memorial Fund at the First Congregational Church
