Longmont newspaper Longmont, Colorado 02-03-02 Halley Gene Bulthaup of Erie died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at his home. He was 72. He was born Dec. 16, 1929, to Benjamin and Ruth (Dean) Bulthaup in Beloit, Kan. He was a graduate of Concordia High School in Kansas. In June 1950, he married Carolyn Margaret Breitweiser in Concordia. They moved from Manhattan, Kan., to Denver in 1965, then to Erie in 1971. Mr. Bulthaup worked in the insurance industry as well as spending time as a rancher. He enjoyed horseback riding, fishing and was an avid golfer. Mr. Bulthaup was a member of Boulder Country Club and a former member of Valley Country Club in Denver. He is survived by two sons, Robert Bulthaup and his wife Cindy of Centennial and Richard Bulthaup and his wife Angeline of Broomfield; two sisters, Helen Kohr of Glascow, Kan., and Shirley McCollom of Concordia; seven grandchildren, Colin Bulthaup of Redwood City, Calif., Sean Bulthaup of Galesburg, Ill., Bryan Bulthaup of Longmont, Kara Bulthaup of Longmont, Nathan Bulthaup of Centennial, Stephanie Bulthaup of Denver and Brittany Bulthaup of Broomfield; and his former wife, Carolyn Bulthaup of Erie. Cremation has been held at Howe Mortuary and Crematory in Longmont. A time of remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont.
