    3. Loveland newspaper Loveland, Colorado 02-02-02 Robert C. Montgomery of Greeley died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Kenton Manor in Greeley. He was 90. He was born Dec. 23, 1911, to Clark C. and Marie (Schreiter) Montgomery on the farm his grandfather homesteaded near Lafayette. He graduated from State Preparatory School in Boulder. On Nov. 30, 1937, he married Muriel Hoffmann in Boulder. They lived in Lafayette, Hygiene and Boulder. He operated a dairy farm, building a herd of more than 100 head of Holstein cattle that were locally and nationally known for their high standard of excellence. He retired in 1992. Mr. Montgomery was active in the Boulder County Fair, and he and his family were the first recipients of the KLMO Distinguished Family Award for their work with the Fair. He was a 4-H Club leader for more than 25 years. He was a life member of the Grange, the IOOF Lodge No. 9 of Boulder, the BPO Elks Lodge No. 566, the Colorado Holstein Association, of which he was a past president, the National Holstein-Friesian Association, the National and Colorado Cattlemen's Association, the National and Weld County Angus Association, the American Pride Co-op of Longmont and the United Presbyterian Church of Boulder. Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, including Otto and Frank Montgomery; a sister, Esther; and a grandson, Matthew. He is survived by his wife of Greeley; two daughters, Marsha Leichliter of Dallas and Jeanne Heltibridle and her husband Donovan of Fowler, Colo.; two sons, David Montgomery of Laramie, Wyo., and Dean Montgomery and his wife Peggy of Aladden, Wyo.; a sister, Ruth Snow of Longmont; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley, with the Rev. Dave L. Garrett officiating. Burial will follow
