Fort Morgan Times Fort Morgan, Colorado 02-13-02 Edward Schreiner, 81, dies Tuesday, February 12, 2002 - Edward Schreiner, 81, lifelong resident of Fort Morgan, died Monday at the Colorado Plains Medical Center. Schreiner was born April 20, 1920, in Fort Morgan to Fred and Mollie (Reichert) Schreiner. He married LeEtta Ballinger on Feb. 2, 1947, in Fort Morgan. The Schreiners farmed south of Fort Morgan and later moved to town. Before his retirement Schreiner was a repair/service man, having worked at Patterson Hardware and later Century Housing Corp. Having a special interest in water conservation, he also worked as the ditch rider for Fort Morgan Ditch Co. He was a member of the Christ Congregational Church. He enjoyed working with horses and was a member of the Saddle Club; he also enjoyed fishing and bowling. Survivors include one son, Alan of Wauneta, Neb.; one daughter, Carol Bender of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; one sister, Marie Kembel of Brush; one brother, Bill of Walsenburg, and four grandchildren. His wife died Sept. 1, 2000, and he was also preceded in death by one sister, six brothers and his parents. A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Christ Congregational Church, 730 Ensign St. in Fort Morgan. Services will conclude at the church.. The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
