Loveland Newspaper Loveland, Colorado 02-19-02 Katherine Dechant, 84, of Loveland, died Feb. 14, 2002, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. She was born July 6, 1917, in Garden City, Kan., to Jacob and Marcina Rohleder Gerstner. She married Jacob J. Dechant on Dec. 26, 1939, in St. Peter, Kan. He preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1983. She had lived in Loveland since 1956, and was a former resident of Berthoud. She was a food server for the HeadStart program. She retired in 1988. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting. She also enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. Survivors include her daughter, Berneida Hall and husband Dr. Charles Hall of Pinellas Park, Fla.; brothers Wendy Gerstner, Al Gerstner and Joe Gerstner, all of Kansas, and Rudy Gerstner of Oklahoma; sisters Euphersine Scheck and Mary Katzdorn, both of Loveland, and Evelyn Korbe, Josephine Dinkel and Carolyn Klaus, all of Kansas; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother. The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow immediately. Visitation will be Monday at Allnutt-Hunter Chapel from 3 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
