Fort Morgan Times Fort Morgan, Colorado 02-17-02 : : : Marie Martha Ross, 82, died Friday morning at the Colorado Plains Medical : Center in Fort Morgan after suffering several illnesses. : : Rosary was recited Monday at 7 p.m. and the funeral services were this : morning at 10. Both services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in : Akron. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery east of Akron. : : Any donations in Mrs. Ross' name can be given to the organization of the : donor's choice. : : Mrs. Ross was born Aug. 7, 1919, in Olpe, Kan., to Benjamin and Mary Fladung : Yanker. The family moved to Colorado in the spring of 1920 to a farm south : of Akron. She graduated from Akron High School in 1937 and married Carroll : Ross on Sept. 23, 1941, in Akron. : : She worked as a secretary to the school superintendent from 1937 to 1942. : She worked at the Remington Arms Factory in Denver from 1942-43 as an : accurate typist, a great asset since each document consisted of ten carbon : copies. She helped build the trucking business including driving a large : semi-tractor trailer in the last years they owned the trucking line. She : worked in the Hall Grain Bird Seed Plant from 1971 to 1979 and later worked : at Goodman Realty as a secretary. : : After retirement she enjoyed traveling to Australia, Germany, London, Costa : Rica and the Yucatan. : : Mrs. Ross' family was very important to her, and coming from a large family, : she had many family events and celebrations to attend. Many were in the : Denver area. : : She loved butterflies, crafts, angels, reading and loved to taste different : "healthy" foods. She played the piano for enjoyment. : : She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and an : infant daughter, Carlene. : : She is survived by her husband, Carroll; three sisters: Loretta, Phyllis and : Frances (Sister Carlene); four children, Clydene, Harold, Karen and Michael, : and six grandchildren. : : :
