    1. [Rus-Frank] [Fwd: Berrien County, MI census index added to Volga Villages]
    2. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Berrien County, MI census index added to Volga Villages From: Patrice Miller <patrice@attbi.com> To: Gene Jenkins <jenkinsgen@nwinfo.net> Gene Jenkins (jenkinsgen@nwinfo.net) has indexed the German Russians in the 1920 census of Berrien County, Michigan. This census index contains 2,920 individuals in 510 households and includes the towns of St. Joseph, Benton Harbor and Three Oaks. It can be found at: http://www.webbitt.com/volga/census.htm The index was so large I had to split it into 2 parts. Thanks again, Gene! Patrice Miller

    1. [Rus-Frank] SHIP Arrivals to US 1906 and 1909 HERMAN
    2. Leona Herman Kollman Garcia
    3. For years I think I have been looking at the wrong date of arrival based on a letter I have from my grandfather's cousin. The more I read the letter the more I think the date of arrival was when he got to Kansas and not to America. Is there a Chemnitz arrival shortly before the date of arrival in KS below? If so, where did it arrive-in what port? I have been searching for the arrival of my grandfather Fredrich HERMAN also. As best I can tell he did not come through Ellis Island. In his obit it said he came to the US in 1909 going first to KS before coming to WA. He was born October 5, 1891 in Hussenbach- Linevo Osero, Saratov, Volga, Russia. He is NOT any of the ones on the Ellis Island Records. Can anyone help? There was no other spelling other than HERMAN. This helps somewhat. I found out recently that his two brothers were named different than I thought. Instead of George and Heinrich (Henry), they were Johan George and Johan Heinrich which leads me to believe grandpa may have been Johan Fredrich. I tried all spellings on Ellis Island site. Letter from: Basine, Kansas Feb 14, 1931 Fred Herman Seattle, Washington Dear Cousin: Am glad to furnish you with the information you asked for which is as follows: The name of the boat was (Gemnits) Gnmniz . Arrived in Russell, Kansas May 28, 1906. Weare all well and crop conditions look fairly good for the time being. Our winter has been very mild and no snow to speak of so far. The wheat is greening up in fine shape and in most places the stock graized all winter.
