Amarillo Globe-News Amarillo, Texas 04-29-02 SOUTH FORK, Colo. - Shirley Ann Franks Walker, 61, died Friday, April 26, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dr. Chester Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Walker was a longtime resident of South Fork. She died at her home after a battle with cancer. She was born in Carey, Texas, on Aug. 5, 1940, to Thomas E. and Vera A. Franks. The family moved to Amarillo when she was 6 months old. She lived in Amarillo from 1941 to 1984, 42 years, where she then met and married Horace Walker on June 16, 1961. Then she moved her family to South Fork remaining there for 18 years until her death. She enjoyed the great outdoors of Colorado. She liked to go jeeping in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. She had a love of birds and can now fly high with them. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth S. Walker, on Nov. 3, 1988. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Janet Nelson of Grand Junction; her parents, Thomas and Vera Franks of Amarillo; two brothers, Jimmy Franks and Danny Franks, both of Amarillo; and a granddaughter, Sabrina Nelson of Grand Junction. The family suggests memorials be to Emmanuel Chapel of South Fork.
