Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 04-05-02 Amelia Smith Amelia Anna Smith, 99, of Greeley, formerly of Keenesburg, died Wednesday, April 3, at Bonell Good Samaritan Center. She was born Jan. 6, 1903, in Athol, Kan., to Joe and Minnie (Freling) Giese. On Dec. 26, 1922, she married Donald L. Smith in Sterling. He died in October 1982. Mrs. Smith moved from Athol as a young girl to southwest of Sterling. She met her husband there. She devoted her life to her family. She loved needlework and was exceptional at crocheting, embroidery and tatting. She was on a bowling league with her husband. Survivors are a daughter, Laura McCartney of Greeley; a son, Lyle L. Smith of Keenesburg; a sister, Mabel Giese of Roundup, Mont.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A son, Harold Smith, a daughter, Donna Gray, and four brothers are deceased. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Linn Grove Cemetery.
