    3. Journal-Advocate Sterling, Colorado 09-21-01 Elmer Conrad Amen, 75, of Merino, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001 in Merino. Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept., 24, at Chaney-Reager with Herman Albrandt officiating. Military graveside rites by American Legion Post No. 20 will be at Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Amen was born on May 18, 1926 to Jacob and Katherine (Fritzler) Amen in Logan County. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from December 1944 until November 1946, as a sergeant in the medical unit in Okinawa. He lived in Atwood until 1952, when he moved to Crook. He farmed in the area, moving to Proctor in 1956. He continued farming through the years, moving to Merino in 1970, where he resided until his death. Mr. Amen is survived by three sisters, Mildred Albrandt and husband Herman of Sterling, Donna Koehler and husband Arlen and Judy Scheuerman and husband Larry, all of Windsor; two brothers, Ed Amen and wife Carol of Merino and Jim Amen and wife Beth of Windsor; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
