    3. Loveland newspaper Loveland, Colorado. 12-19-01 MEINTZER: Rolland Meintzer, 84, of Johns-town, died Dec. 12, 2001, at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Loveland to Jacob and Elizabeth Hehn Meintzer. He attended a Loveland country school. He had lived in Johnstown since 1956. He married Mollie Kerbel on Jan. 7, 1942, in Kimball, Neb. She preceded him in death Jan. 19, 1999. Mr. Meintzer served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He managed Loomix Liquid Feed Inc. from 1972 to 1988 and farmed in the Loveland, Greeley and Johnstown areas for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Johnstown/Milliken Chamber of Commerce and was a former member of the Johnstown Rotary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2585 and St. John's United Church of Christ. He loved woodworking, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Meintzer and wife Linda of Johnstown; daughters Carol Jordanger and Patty Weber and husband Larry, all of Johnstown; sister Margaret Martin of Greeley; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers, a sister and son-in-law Norman Jordanger. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Allnutt Funeral Service's Macy Chapel in Greeley.     3. Loveland Newspaper Loveland, Colorado 12-19-01 Mary Harding Mary Harding, 85, of Loveland, died Dec. 13, 2001, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. She was born Jan. 14, 1916, in Windsor to Phillip and Mary Elizabeth Deines Scheller. She went to school through the eighth grade. She had been a resident of Loveland since 1936. She married Arthur Harding on Feb. 20, 1936, in Loveland. He preceded her in death June 25, 1994. She was a homemaker and gardener and helped her husband on the farm and with milking the cows. Mrs. Harding enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. She also enjoyed quilting, embroidery and sewing. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Johnstown. She is survived by two sons, Jim Harding and wife Barb and Robert Harding and wife Darlene, all of Loveland; two daughters, Roberta Reichert of Loveland and Elnora Whitman and husband John of Wellington; sister Mollie Klein of Greeley; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three nephews; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Scheller; and a nephew, Robert Scheller. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the Allnutt-Hunter Funeral Home.     3. Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 12-19-01 Hannah Meintzer Hannah Meintzer, 88, of Greeley died Saturday, Dec. 15, at North Colorado Medical Center. She was born Sept. 2, 1913, in Lucerne to George J. and Katherin (Gesick) Rosenhoff. In 1933, she married Conrad Laubhan in Greeley. He died Jan. 25, 1962. She married Edward Meintzer in 1966 in Denver. He died in 1988. Formerly of Lucerne, Windsor and Wiggins, Mrs. Meintzer had lived in and around Greeley for most of her life. She graduated from Bonnie Beauty School. She owned a beauty shop in Denver and was a homemaker. She and her first husband farmed in the Greeley area until health problems forced him to retire. Mrs. Meintzer was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. Survivors are three sons, Jerry Laubhan of New York City, Jim Laubhan of Denver and Kenneth Laubhan of Colorado Springs; a half sister, Lydia Dunbar of Grover; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Her parents, nine sisters and a half-brother are deceased. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s United Church of Christ. Interment will be in Linn Grove Cemetery.     3. Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 12-19-01 Richard Erwin Richard Lloyd Erwin, 78, of Greeley died Sunday, Dec. 16, Greeley at North Colorado Medical Center. He was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Speerville, Kan., to Wilbur Esta and Eleanore (Klein) Erwin. On Sept. 10, 1944, he married June Joyce Beghin at Chanute Field Army Base, now Chanute Air Force Base, in Champaign, Ill. Mr. Erwin attended Denver University for two years before joining the Army Signal Corps. He earned four Battle Stars, an American Service Medal, an Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, a World War II Victory Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He started in retail at Eaker’s Department Store in Denver. He was director of personnel for the Denver Dry Goods Co. and Denver Dry Goods regional sales manager. During his retirement years, he was lead salesman for the Better Business Bureau and regional manager. Mr. Erwin was a member of Optimist International, served on the Urban Renewal Board, was a DECA placement counselor, and was a member of the Greeley Elks BPOE 809 and Knights of Columbus. His devoted dog “Taco” was his best friend. Survivors are his wife, June Erwin of Greeley; two sons, Richard Kevin Erwin of Palm Springs, Calif., and Larry Richard Erwin of Longmont; and a granddaughter. His parents and two brothers are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.     2. Billings Gazette Billings, Montana Sept. 29, 2001 William Weber Jr., passed away peacefully Sept. 27, 2001 at Deaconess hospital. He was born near Billings on Dec. 30, 1932, to William and Marie (Wagner) Weber. Billy lived and worked on the family farm his entire life. He was an influential member of the dairy industry and delivered an outstanding milk product to the Billings community during his lifetime. As a breeder of prize Holsteins, he won numerous championship awards as an exhibitor at the Midland Empire Fair. For a number of years, Billy was the only representative from Montana to serve as a board member of the Black Hills Milk Producers. He was also a member of the American Dairy Association and a DHIA board member. As a young man, in 1960, Billy was chosen as an International Farm Youth Exchange Delegate to Germany. He wa first person from Montana selected to receive such an honor without a college degree, which was a requirement. Billy joined the Elysian Peppy Peppers 4-H Club when he was 9 years old. He served as a club leader for 276 years and spent countless hours teaching youngsters how to show beef and dairy cattle. During his high school years, he was a member of the Future Farms of America and served as vice president. As a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church since childhood, Billy taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School superintendent and Chairman of the church board for many years. He also say in the Choir and men's chorus. Billy loved to work in his rose garden and had a special relationship with his pet dog and sidekick "Tiffany". A brother Donald, preceded him in death. Billiy is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marcia; daughter Tracy Weber and her husband Marc Martin of Seattle; his parents William and Marie Weber Sr.; his sister Joanne Dodd; brother James Weber and his wife Elaine; sister-in-law June Letz and her husband Ted, all of Billings; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Monday Oct. 1, at 10 a.m., at Pilgrim Congregational Church. Interment will follow at Terrace Gardens Cemetery. William Weber was the son of William Weber Sr. and Marie (Wagner) Weber. William Weber Sr. was born in Loveland, Colorado the son of Volga Germans. Marie (Wagner) Weber was born in Frank, Russia.

She was born July 7, 1915, in Lincoln, Neb., to Conrad and Katherine Marie (Bostron) Borgens. On Oct. 25, 1941, she married John G. Dorsey in Kimball, Neb. Mrs. Dorsey was confirmed at St. Paul’s Congregational Church. She also was a member of the First Christian Church in Greeley. She was employed by Greeley-Evans School District 6 and later by the University of Northern Colorado in food service. A homemaker, Mrs. Dorsey loved to cook and especially to make fudge and cookies. She enjoyed dancing and sewing. She loved her family Survivors are her husband, John G. Dorsey of Greeley; Sandra Kay Scott of Evans; a son, Harland G. “Buzz” Dorsey of Kersey; two brothers, Harold Borgens of California and Reinholdt Borgens of Colorado; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was born June 29, 1905, in Hennessey, Okla., to F.M. and ElNora (Patrick) Stimmel. A homemaker, Mrs. Walker was the wife of the late Roy Jefferson Walker. She was the mother of Jeannine Phelps and R.J. Walker, both of Greeley. Also surviving are two sisters, Frances Maupin of Woodward, Okla., and Edith Morgan of Mutual, Okla.; six grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.     3. In looking for my great aunt's obituary today, I found these surnames. In the Stillwater, Oklahoma News Press for Friday December 7, 2001: Rosa Lillie Cain Rosa Lillie Cain, 86, Perry, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Perry Memorial Hospital. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Perry. Interment will be at the Sumner Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Sisson Funeral Home. Cain was born Aug. 23, 1915, on a farm west of Morrison, to Christian and Wilhelmina (Spahr) Frank. She was the youngest daughter of eight children born to German immigrants. Her father made the Cherokee Strip Run for land and proved his stake in Noble County, southwest of Bill’s Corner. Cain attended Oak Grove School. At an early age, she came into the Christian faith and became a member of the Methodist Church in Morrison. She moved to Eustis, Neb., in 1941 where she lived and worked with her sister and brother-in-law, Flora and John Rieker. She and the Rieker’s moved to Perry in 1972. She married Gerald Cain Jan. 10, 1975, and made their home in Perry. She became a member of the First Christian Church in Perry in 1977. He was born Aug. 30, 1936, in Denver to George and Marie (Schmidt) Margheim. On Sept. 29, 1962, he married Ella Mae Bruntz in Greeley. Mr. Margheim grew up in Windsor and had lived in Greeley since 1960. He worked for the city of Greeley in maintenance at Island Grove Regional Park. He served in the Navy from 1954-58 on the USS Roanoke and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Windsor. He enjoyed camping, fishing and polka dancing. Survivors are his wife, Ella Mae Margheim of Greeley; a daughter, Wendy Stalfire of The Dalles, Ore.; a son, Darrin Margheim of New Hope, Minn.; three sisters, Mary Ruth Bopp of Eaton, and Gloria Koch and Diana Tempelfeld, both of Windsor; four brothers, Daniel Margheim of Windsor, Gordon Margheim of Loveland, Robert Margheim of Fargo, N.D., and George Margheim Jr. of Platteville; and a grandson, Derek Margheim of Mankato, Minn. His parents, a sister, Leona Walter, and a brother, Edward Margheim, are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.

    2. Dear Listers, I just got a flyer with the specials that Heritage Quest is offering for sale. One of them is a CD set that contains "Russians to America 1850 to 1896". It is a serachable collecion of passenger list for about 430,000 individuals passenger arrivals from Russia prior to 1896. It is supposed to contain the following. It is supposed to contain all person coming from Russia. 1. Date and port of Arrival 2. Ship's name 3. Last residence 4. Name, gender and age of passenger 5. County of Origin 6. Final Destination 7. Occupation Has anyone ever heard of this collection? I was thinking about buying and seeing how useful it would be. Although as luck would have it won't contain any of my German-Russians.     3. Loveland FYI Loveland, Colorado 12-02-01 George C. Becker Sr., 68, of Berthoud, died Nov. 26, 2001, at Applewood Living Center in Longmont. He was born July 28, 1933, in Nance County, Neb., to George O. and Zella Fern Kinney Becker. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict following his high school graduation. He married Margie M. Sladek on April 11, 1953, in Memphis, Tenn. She preceded him in death. Mr. Becker worked for IBM as a computer programmer, developing programs for NASA and the Apollo space program. He also was involved as a programmer for the Star Wars project, retiring in 1984. He moved to the Berthoud area from Tucson, Ariz., in 1986. He was instrumental in the starting of Service Alert with Scott and Kathy Graham, who designed a restaurant pager system. For the last number of years he enjoyed traveling the United States, seeing sites and visiting friends. His fondness and love of Corvettes eventually led him to buy a 1999 Corvette, which he took to the road visiting warmer states in the winter and northern states during the summer months. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. Mr. Becker is survived by two sons, George Becker Jr. and wife Andrea and Jerry Becker and wife Denise, all of Longmont; two daughters, Anita Vanover and husband Rodney of Berthoud, and Joanne Schultz and husband James of Longmont; a sister, Mary Lou Polocoff and husband Dave of Wheat Ridge; 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont. David Bradshaw, of LifeBridge Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Cancer Care Center in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, 80501.
