    3. Loveland newspaper Loveland, Colorado 04-27-02 Dorothy Lillian Zimmerman, 73, formerly of Loveland, died April 21, 2002, at Boulder Community Hospital following a brief illness. She was born July 20, 1928, in Niwot to Frank T. and Carrie Mae Bittner Burke. She grew up and attended schools in Niwot. She married E. Leonard Loukonen in 1945; they later divorced. She married James L. Zimmerman in 1972 in Loveland. They lived in Loveland, Holyoke and Lafayette before settling in Thornton in 1999. Mrs. Zimmerman was an avid gardener and a member of the Bach Elder Friend Club. She loved to travel; some of her favorite destinations were Monterey Bay, Calif., and Point Judith, R.I. She is survived by her husband of Thornton; sons Dean and wife Rosanne, John, Kenneth and wife Margie, and Michael and wife Debbie; daughters Katherine Loukonen and Cynthia Loukonen, both of Lyons; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters Darlene "Beth" Wagerman of Arvada, Carol Dare of Denver, and Sher Vidaurri and husband Gilbert of Frederick; brother-in-law Donald Thorne of Denver; and her former husband. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ethelda Thorne. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howe Mortuary in Longmont, the Rev. Larry Kettle officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-6 p.m. today at Howe Mortuary, with family present 4-6 p.m. Interment will be at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the Altona Grange following the services. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.     3. Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 04-27-02 Gladys Williams Gladys "Vicky" Bennett Williams, 82, of Alamo, Calif., died Wednesday, April 3, in Alamo. She was born Oct. 13, 1919, in Eaton to Arthur and Hannah (Eklund) Molander. Mrs. Williams graduated from Eaton High School. After graduating from Covenant Hospital in Chicago, she served in the Navy from 1942-54 and reached the rank of lieutenant senior grade. She was a nurse at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek, Calif., for more than 20 years and retired in 1981. Survivors are her husband, Dr. Winfield Williams; two sons, Ron Bennett and Brad Bennett; a sister, Elsie Ottoson of Eaton; four grandchildren; and her husband's children by his first marriage. Her first husband, Ronald Bennett, died in November 1983, and her parents, a sister and a brother are deceased. Friends and family celebrated her life April 8 at the Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church in California.

    3. Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 04-27-02 Cornelia Mitzel Cornelia Mitzel, 90, of Greeley died Thursday, April 25, at the Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado inpatient unit. She was born Jan. 5, 1912, in Greeley to Conrad P. and Margaret (Gies) Giesick. Mrs. Mitzel received her education at College High School, now University High School, in Greeley. On Dec. 27, 1928, she married Godfrey Winter in Windsor. He died in October 1956. On Dec. 28, 1963, she married William Mitzel in Greeley. Formerly of Galeton, Lucerne and Gilcrest, Mrs. Mitzel and her husband moved to Greeley in 1979 when they retired. She was a member of St. Paul's Congregational Church. Survivors are her husband, William Mitzel of Greeley; two sons, Eugene Winter of Eaton and Lesley Winter of Brighton; a brother, Ferdinand Giesick of Greeley; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. A son, Leroy Winter; a sister, Ida Moser; and two brothers, Joseph and Herbert Giesick, are deceased. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Macy Chapel. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.

It has become apparent that the largest ethnic population in Fresno County on the 1920 Census were Armenians.
