Dear Listers, I am looking for someone who is familiar with the 1920 U.S. Federal Census for Cottonwood County, Minnesota. In particular the town of Mountain Lake. In doing the extraction of this town I have come across an enumerator who has written what looks like Taurien as the place of birth with the word GER written over the top. I believe that this is the Taurien region of Russia but I can't prove it. Is there are Taurien in Germany? There are approximately 300 families that will not be extracted if I can't figure this one out. If there is anyone on the list who has family members in Mountain Lake on the 1920 census and you know for sure that this is Taurien region of Russia please let me know. On a different note. I have looked at Powers County in Idaho for extraction. The problem is that about 75% of the county is not readible. The handwriting is to faint to read. Thanks, Gene Jenkins Selah, WA.
