Dear List, Someone a while back was looking for information on the Ex family from Frank, Russia; I believe. You might try the spelling of EKX. I just came across this surname spelling while extracting the G-R's from Welb County, Colorado from the 1920 U.S. Federal Census. The Census says the following. Greeley Tribune Greeley, Colorado 10-13-01 village: Dittel Kathryn Klaus Kathryn Klaus, 92, of Greeley died Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Fairacres Manor after a long illness. Mrs. Klaus was born Sept. 23, 1909, in Bremen, Germany, to George and Dorothy (Rommel) Stroman, en route from Dittel, Russia, to the United States. She grew up in the Ault, Kersey and Gill areas and attended Lucas School. On July 30, 1931, she married John Klaus in Los Angeles where they had gone to attend Bible College. The couple lived in Milliken and Johnstown, moved to Oregon in 1946 and returned to Johnstown in 1971. They moved to Greeley in 1983, where Mrs. Klaus continued to live until her death. Her husband died in 1992. Mrs. Klaus enjoyed gardening, especially taking pride in her raspberries. She loved to cook, enjoyed making crafts and bird watching. She kept active and attended the Senior Center Senior Shape Up classes. In Oregon, she worked as a seamstress for several establishments that specialized in sports clothing and was a presser at another company. She also worked as the baker at Lincoln High School, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Richard Rolfness; four sisters, Mollie Brug, Frieda Held, Esther Heil and Elsie Kinzer; and a brother, David Stroman. Five sisters, Mary Lofing, Elizabeth Fritzler, Emma Weinmeister, Lydia Hettinger and Claire Shogren, and a brother, Robert Stroman, are deceased. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith United Church of Christ in Windsor. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Windsor. Friends may visit from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Stoddard Funeral Home.
Hello Everyone, I have volunteered to take on the responsibilities of being the List Administrator for RUS-SARATOV-FRANK mailing list. Since I am new at this job I urge all of you to bear with me. For those that don't know anything about me I am a descendant of Germans from Frank, Russia on my father's maternal side. My immediate family surnames are WAGNER and WEISS(WEIS). My grandmother was Mollie Wagner who was the daughter of Jacob (Jack) WAGNER and Catherine Elisabeth WEISS(WEIS). I am the Pleve Chart owner for the WEISS(WEIS) family chart. I have done extensive work on my family tree and have also worked on the family tree for a cousin who is also WAGNER family but also SELL and WEBER. I have currently undertaken the project of extracting the Germans from Russia from the 1920 U.S. Federal Census for various selected Counties through out the United States. Journal-Advocate Sterling, Co 10-05-01 Obituaries Emma Marie Suckey, 94, of Sterling, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in Sterling. Visitation is today until 6 p.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Faith United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Burnett officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Suckey was born April 12, 1907 in Leroy to Jacob and Pauline (Frank) Bauder. She attended school in the Leroy area. On Nov. 28, 1928, she married Albert Suckey. They lived and farmed in the Leroy area until moving to Fleming where they continued farming. They moved to the Fyffe community in 1949 where they farmed until her husband Albert died in 1972. She sold the farm and moved to Sterling. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women's group in the church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and was always willing to help others. She is survived by two daughters, Leota J. Kestler and husband Donald of Greeley, and Kay Volpe and husband David of Greeley; one brother, George Bauder of Sterling, two sisters, Alma Lane of Sterling and Lenora Wilcox and husband Lloyd of Sterling; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Louise Graber; one grandchild, sisters Nettie McMillan and BerthaSteckhler, and brothers Jake, Ted and Rudolph Bauder. Memorials can be made to the Faith United Methodist Church.

Loveland Newspaper Loveland, Colorado 09-30-01 BETZ: Amelia "Molly" Betz, 98, of Loveland, died Sept. 26, 2001, at Sierra Vista Health Care Center in Loveland. She was born May 25, 1903, in Russia, to Henry and Amelia Gabel Bakel. The family immigrated to the United States when she was 9 years old. They eventually settled in Greeley. She married John Betz in March 1922 in Greeley. He preceded her in death in 1981. They lived and raised their family near Milliken, Erie and Longmont. She enjoyed sewing and flowers. She was a member of the Boulder County Extension Club and served many meals at the senior center in Lyons. Mrs. Betz is survived by a son, Elmer Betz of Loveland; a daughter, Irene Ray of Post Falls, Idaho; a brother, Leo Bakel of Loveland; a sister, Mary Snyder of Los Angeles; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Donald Bakel and a sister, Martha Meintzer. No visitation is planned. Cremation will be conducted. Graveside memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Loveland Newspaper Loveland, Colorado 09-16-01 Mary Sara Vollenweider, 90, of Loveland, was called to her heavenly home Sept. 15, 2001, at Sierra Vista Health Care Center. She was born Sept. 2, 1911, near Huron, S.D., to Jacob and Lillian Stambaugh Zeigler. She married Holland "Holly" Vollenweider Dec. 27, 1932, at her parents' home near Huron. She was a country school teacher in South Dakota at the age of 18 and taught for three years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and doing volunteer work at the church wherever they lived. She liked to help others make their lives more meaningful by her positive attitude and inspiration. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Holly. Her family brought her much joy, and she loved the special times with her grandchildren and their families. Mary was very creative and liked writing poetry about God's creations. Mary's love of music was an inspiration to many, and she said many times, "What would the world be like without music?" Holly and Mary lived in South Dakota, Lawton and Moville, Iowa, and San Jose, Calif., before moving to Loveland in 1978. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Loveland and also had the loving support of her daughter's church family at Zion Lutheran.
