    2. Does anyone know this Michigan Rudd family? DR. EDWARD RUDD 09/23/01 RUDD, DR. EDWARD J. Norton Shores Dr. Edward J. Rudd was born in Cedarville, Michigan on June 30, 1916 to Edward C. and Bertha (Smale) Rudd and died on September 22, 2001 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Linda in 1999, after more than 57 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by a sister, Audrey Delbridge, and by his parents. He is survived by two sons, Terry (Connie) Rudd of Clarkston, Michigan, and Bill (Gloria) Rudd of Muskegon, Michigan, six grandchildren, Terry (Jennifer) Rudd, Jr., Andrew (Lynn) Rudd, Kelly (Kirk) Brien, David (Marianne) Rudd, Daniel (Andrea) Rudd, and Angela Rudd, seven great-grandchildren, Jack, Emma, Madelyn, Jaelyn, Nathan, Liam, and Addison, two sisters, Uldene LeRoy and Colleen (Robert) Berry, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. He was a member of the first graduating class from Cedarville High School in 1932. He also graduated from Michigan State University in 1938 (with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering) and received a D.D.S. (with honors) from the University of Michigan in 1942 where he was president of his graduating class. He served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps during WWII, attaining the rank of Major and serving as Director of the Department of Training in the Medical Field Service School at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. He practiced dentistry at the Polyclinic in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan for 37 years and also served as the president of the Michigan State Dental Association (of which he was a life member). He served, too, as president of the Sault Kiwanis Club. He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sault Ste. Marie, where he served as a Deacon, a Trustee, a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Building Committee. In addition to his involvement in a number of other ministries within the church, he was also licensed to serve as a ``lay minister'' and spoke in a number of churches in Michigan and Ontario. He was an avid outdoorsman and handyman, along with being an excellent athlete, excelling in baseball, golf, and tennis. A memorial service will be conducted at Calvary Baptist Church in Sault Ste. Marie at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 26, 2001, with visitation beginning at noon. The service will be led by Pastor Terry Rudd, Pastor Bill Rudd, and Pastor Sidney Reed, with burial at Cedar Cemetery near Cedarville at 4:00 PM. Memorials may be designated for Calvary Baptist Church (Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan), or for Bibles International (Grand Rapids, Michigan).
