Allen Rudd's brother, David Rudd & his wife Margaret are my great grandparents. (I have a small picture showing 8 sons). The older sons were from a previous wife. There was one girl. My grandfather, Henry Clay Rudd born cir 1891, at age 18 married Carrie Mullins (cir 1909-10); My father, Herbert Ray Rudd, the oldest son was born April 1910. They probably worked at the Salyersville jail until they moved to Alger, Ohio in 1921. The family has a picture at the jail. They also later lived in Stockbridge, MI where some Rudds are buried. David's father James H. Rudd (b. 1827 noted in 1860 census at age 33 w/his wife Dorcus (Payne)) came to Magoffin County in 1854 at age 27. (Parents of David & Allen) A James at age 27 (1854) came to White Oak along what is now the Morgan/Magoffin Cty line from Tazewell County, Virginia. I was told James parents were Archibald & Nancy Woosely Rudd with the family dating back to the 1600s in Chesterfield County, Va. Figure that our Archibald (Sr) was born cir 1800. An Archibald B. Jr was b. Oct 10, 1830 in Tazewell (could he be the brother to my James H, b 1827?) His child James Harvey b. Jul 29, 1854 in Tazewell (could he be named after his uncle, our James H. above) My Conclusion: the Parents of Archibald B. Jr & James H. (brothers) was Archibald Sr. b cir 1800 and m. to Nancy Woosley. The 1850-1860 Tazewell Cty, VA census would probably be Archibald Sr at age 60. Could you send me the relevant information you have on the Rudds that came from Chesterfield County in the late 1600s. (following the Archibald Sr line) I suppose they moved to Tazwell county from there. I have been unable to locate the info. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ronald Presley <ronpres@yahoo.com> To: <RUDD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 10, 2000 9:18 PM Subject: Re: Maggofin Co., KY Rudds No, I have not yet.
