    3. I don't know why I didn't think of it before - I have a subscription to the Civil War Database online! Did a search for Rudd and it came back with 56 names in the Union Army and 40 in the Confederate States Army. There are three Thomas Rudds listed: Thomas Rudd - Private, NY Thomas Rudd, Fairhaven, VT - Private, VT Thomas Rudd - Private, NY If you'd like more information on them let me know - there is usually a bit more info to be gained at this website.
