In case you are unaware..... the following *geographically*-based email lists *may* prove pertinent to your surname research (then again, they may not ;-) ) But....in case they are, here are the details: all are *county* email lists in North Carolina: ncvance (Vance County) ncwarren (Warren County) ncfrankl (Franklin County) To subscribe to any of the above lists: turn OFF your email signatures and send messages to the following addresses with ONLY the word "subscribe" (leave off the quotation marks) in the text body of the email. You will receive a "welcome" email message from each list confirming that you've subscribed: to sub in LIST (or "mail") mode, send subscribe message to: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] to sub in DIGEST mode, send subscribe message to: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] FYI.....Vance County formed 1881 from Granville, Warren and Franklin; Warren and Franklin counties were formed 1779 from (now defunct) Bute County (Bute, by the way, was formed 1764 from Granville) Vance, Franklin, Warren and Granville counties are adjacent to one another in the northeastern portion of NC, at the VA line. Records (marriages, deeds, etc.) from the *same* families are often found among all of the counties, as well defunct Bute County (mostly, tho not always, housed with Warren's records).
