    3. Hi, (what is your name anyway?) It's a Rudd question, so I don't charge for that! How about trying to get a pension record for the Thomas Rudd who was in the Civil War? You need a special form, NATF 80. Go into http://www.nara.gov/ and you can order the form you need. When you get it, follow the instructions, filling in as much as you can. His widow might have applied for a pension. New York didn't start keeping vital records until after 1880, so I doubt you'll have much luck over there. I looked in my copy of the Revised Roster and find that the Thomas Rudd in the Civil War was from Fair Haven. It seems doubtful to me that the one there in the 1810 and 1820 census would have served in the Civil War, so it might be a son. To be listed in the census you would be the head of a household, so would probably be about 20. If he was 20 in 1810, he would be 70 in 1860. I guess your best bet would be to try to get a pension record for the one who served in the Civil War. Good luck, Joann Nichols [email protected] wrote: > Joann, > I got your e-mail from Alice Eichholz who said you were THE expert on the > Rudd family.
