Someone recently said that all us unknown RUDD family members should speak up again, since there are new members to the list. In that light, I come out of the woodwork. My earliest known RUDD is really rather recent, as compared to the rest of you. He is: J.(James)W.G.RUDD, born in North Carolina, about 1813. His first known wife, according to 1850 Ga. census is SINDY M., born 1820, in North Carolina. A possible 2nd wife according to 1860 GA. census, MALINDA, born 1816, NC. These could of course, be the same person. On the 1900 Alabama census, the oldest son of this family stated that his mother was born in Virginia, with no other information. The following are the known children of JWG RUDD. son...Henry Clay Rudd, b. 1839-40, GA. girl...Cloy A. Rudd, b. 1841, GA. son...(?)Terisey P. Rudd, b. 1843, GA. James E. Rudd, b. 1844, GA. son...Francis, b. 1845, GA. son...L.H.Rudd, b 1849, GA. Son...(?)Cebron Rudd, b. 1852, Ga. Girl...Missa Rudd, b. 1855, GA. Girl...Molly Rudd, b. 1858, GA. This family was in Cherokee County GA. apparently when the first son was born, until 1860, when they moved to Alabama. The last known record of JWG RUDD was in 1876 when he took part in a wedding there. Then gone to ? Apparently there was some beginnings in Virginia, because in 1880 some RUDDS came to Jefferson Co., AL., and worked in coal mines which may have been owned by one or more of JWG's sons. And there was the reference of HENRY CLAY RUDD about HIS mother being born in VA. My RUDD must be one of the many independant RUDD families who came to America independent of any others. No one to date has found him in their lines. There is a line of RUDDS with some of the fathers named BURLINGHAM RUDD, and others, and there is a JAMES RUDD in one (some)of their lines on which there is no other record other than his birth year, and place, whichseems to fit my JAMES, but they say he is not. One researcher says there was not a JAMES in that line anyway. I have hunted for anything at all on this man for about 20 years, with no luck. I hope one of you new people will claim my lonesome line. With apologies for a long letter, I am... Ronald Presley ronpres@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
