If I may add another point about my J.(JAMES) W.G. RUDD, my Grandfather RUDD always said that he was "Dutch-Irish", and I always believed that RUDD was the Irishman, but lately I have begun to wonder. Since I have found nothing on my JAMES earlier than 1840, it makes me suspect a name change, but from what? Maybe the RUDD was DUTCH? Anyone ever heard a Dutch version of the name RUDD? Thanks very much for the response. It gives me hope again, after all the screaming silence.
